Is the term used to describe the services and supports that are available to babies and young children with developmental delays and disabilities and their families. May include speech therapy, physical therapy, and other types of services based on the needs of the child and family.

Early Intervention is a statewide system that provides coordinated services to parents of infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays in Ohio. EI is grounded in the philosophy that young children learn best from familiar people in familiar settings.

To be eligible for services, children must be under 3 years of age and have a confirmed disability or established developmental delay, as defined by the State, in one or more of the following areas of development: physical, cognitive, communication, social-emotional, and/or adaptive.
